Getting Started With Portal
This article applies to Portal TV. See Portal article. Before you begin, learn what you need to set up your Portal TV. If you would like to use screen reader to set up your Portal, learn more about setting up your Portal TV using screen reader. Avoid placing your Portal TV directly on top of a speaker, too close to a speaker, directly on top of a sound bar or too close to a sound bar. Your Portal remote may require updating.

Facebook Portal is a smart display specifically designed to use with Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp video calling. Once your Portal is plugged in, follow the on-screen instructions to begin setup. Once you have finished connecting an account, follow the remaining on-screen instructions to complete the setup. You can easily set up the Portal for someone else, send it to them, and all they have to do to set up their Portal is to log into their Wi-Fi. The Facebook Portal smart display is great at making video calls to Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp contacts, and while its setup process is easy, it is somewhat lengthy. Insert the power cord into the back of the Portal, and plug it into an outlet. After the Portal connects to your network, it will automatically download and install the latest update. During this time, you can take a virtual tour of the device. After the Portal has finished downloading the update, it will ask you to restart it. Once the Portal has restarted, press continue to agree to the terms of service. Give your Portal a name. You can select from the menu, or create your own name. Connect your Facebook account. A code will appear on the screen of the Portal.
